Things are still moving around the Canadiens, and it smells like center-related rumors.

For the past few weeks, one name keeps coming up whenever a available center is discussed: Nazem Kadri. This time, it's Darren Dreger who put the Canadiens into the conversation, speaking of a clear desire to improve play down the middle.
The detail that stands out: they do not want to block young players like Michael Hage.
When you look at the situation objectively, Kadri fits the profile of a veteran who attracts teams. He already has a Stanley Cup ring, and above all, he has a level of production that holds up over multiple seasons.
Over his NHL career, he has posted 315 goals, 427 assists, and 742 points.
"Darren Dreger: Re Canadiens: They'd like to improve the middle of their ice, Nazem Kadri makes some sense to me, but here's why it doesn't to Kent Hughes; Michael Hage...they don't wanna block this kid; they wanna make sure that he's got opportunity - Barn Burner (1/9)
Kent Hughes has emphasized the future, and Michael Hage is a prospect generating buzz within the organization. Dreger's rumor does not say that Montreal is going all-in tomorrow morning, but it does confirm that they are keeping their ears open.
The nuance is important: interest does not mean a trade.

Darren Dreger provides an update on Nazem Kadri and the Montreal Canadiens

Kadri still has gas left in the tank, but the Canadiens also want minutes and opportunities for their young players. On the other end, Calgary knows very well what it has on its hands: a center who can produce and a name that gets people talking.
In the end, Dreger's comments mainly shine a light on the Canadiens' philosophy. Yes, the team wants to strengthen its center position, but not at the cost of freezing its own future.
And that's the kind of message that makes fans smile!
