Kent Hughes Could Target Former First-Round Pick Among 22 Players Placed on Waivers
Today's waiver list includes exactly 20 players available across the NHL, but one name is attracting a lot of attention.
Russian forward
Vitali Kravtsov, a former first-round pick (9th overall in 2018 by the New York Rangers), has been placed on waivers by the Vancouver Canucks.
For the Montreal Canadiens and Kent Hughes, this is a major surprise. Kravtsov may never have reached his full potential in North America, but he remains a player with excellent size and strong offensive skills.
I'm certain he will raise some eyebrows for Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton.
Here is the full list, shared by Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports:
Vitali Kravtsov Available: An Intriguing Case for the Canadiens
Could the Canadiens take advantage of this to add offensive depth?
With 22 players on waivers, Kravtsov is, in my opinion, by far the most intriguing, and his name will undoubtedly be a hot topic in the coming hours.
Another intriguing name is
Raphael Lavoie, an offensive prospect who has already shown promising skills in Edmonton and could attract the attention of teams lacking depth on the wing.
As we know, whenever a Quebec-born player becomes available, the Canadiens cannot afford to ignore him and must pay close attention to his file.
Finally, on defense,
Riley Stillman and
Jaycob Megna represent interesting options for clubs looking for physical depth reinforcement.
Although, at first glance, the Canadiens don't appear to have an urgent need on defense, you never know-hockey has already delivered even crazier surprises.
