Montreal Canadiens can breathe a little after seeing their players pass through waivers, but the case of Kaapo Kahkonen remains the last major issue to resolve at training camp.
The Montreal Canadiens can relax a bit, as the vast majority of players they submitted to waivers passed without being claimed by another NHL team in recent days.
This is good news for the organization, which was certainly worried about losing assets for nothing.
However, one case still needs close attention: that of goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen.

I think Kahkonen represents a special case.
The goaltender still has the potential to help an NHL team, and he is naturally attracting attention from several clubs looking for depth in net.
However, he does not yet have a spot in Montreal's roster.
The bad news is that if the Canadiens want to send him to Laval, he will also have to pass through waivers, which opens the door to a possible departure.
Whatever happens, this will be the last major suspense of the camp regarding waivers, and the answer should come very soon.
