Sean Farrell's Future with Canadiens Now Known Following Waivers
Just a few days ago, Sean Farrell was still fighting for a forward spot with the Montreal Canadiens before being placed on waivers on Saturday.
I don't think he'll ever be unable to play in the NHL-on the contrary-but for now, there is simply too much depth with the Habs.
In fact, I really believe that this offensive depth on the Canadiens makes the fight for a roster spot even more difficult than usual.
Today, the verdict came: after confirmation from Nicolas Cloutier of TVA Sports, no NHL team claimed him
He will therefore head to Laval.
In Laval, Farrell will have the opportunity to play significant minutes and regain a more natural offensive role.
I truly believe this could be beneficial for his development. And who knows-if Farrell establishes himself in the AHL, he could very well reopen the door to Montreal sooner than expected.
Farrell is not the first offensive forward to be blocked by a team's depth chart, and he won't be the last.
In my opinion, this is not the end of the road, but rather a logical step in his development, and I'm really relieved to see that he was not claimed off waivers.
