Montreal Canadiens Place Five Players on Waivers Following Roster Cuts
Following the recent major roster cuts, the Montreal Canadiens and GM Kent Hughes have placed multiple players on waivers.
Here is the official post from the Montreal Canadiens:
"The Canadiens have placed forwards Alex Belzile, Lucas Condotta and Sean Farrell as well as defensemen Nathan Clurman and Marc Del Gaizo on waivers for the purpose of a loan to the Laval Rocket." - Montreal Canadiens
Many observers believe Farrell will be closely watched this season, no matter where he ends up playing.
As for Belzile and Condotta, they are two players who know the Laval Rocket well and could once again wear its colors in a few days.
The Laval Rocket could directly benefit from this unexpected reinforcement.
Regarding Del Gaizo and Clurman, their roles were more limited, but they provided useful depth on defense.
The Battle for the Last Forward Spots
Earlier this morning, according to Marco D'Amico, the five names most frequently mentioned are
Arber Xhekaj,
Owen Beck, Joe Veleno, Olivier Kapanen,
Samuel Blais, and Sean Farrell.
Now Farrell is no longer in the equation.
Florian Xhekaj, for his part, wants to prove he is not just a tough player but can also bring stability on defense.
Owen Beck stands out for his maturity and responsible play, even though he is still very young.
Kasperi Kapanen and Sammy Blais, who already have a lot of NHL experience, need to prove they can add depth right away.
