Last-minute completely unexpected signing with the Canadiens
While the NHL trade deadline is a little over 48 hours away as of writing these lines, there is anticipation for the Canadiens to make moves or for Kent Hughes to announce player signings.
On this Wednesday morning, the Canadiens decided to surprise everyone by announcing a signing, but not at the player level.
"RALEIGH Montreal Canadiens executive vice president of hockey operations, Jeff Gorton, announced on Wednesday that the team has agreed to terms on a multi-year contract extension with assistant general manager, John Sedgwick. In addition to his duties with the Canadiens, Sedgwick is named general manager of the AHL's Laval Rocket." - Montreal Canadiens
This means that Kent Hughes can now focus solely on the Canadiens, leaving the American Hockey League aspect to his assistant.
The official announcement from the Canadiens is as follows.
