Since the departure of Alex Burrows, the Canadiens organization had not yet made any hires, and many believed that Martin St-Louis would take on the vacant duties himself.
However, Jeff Gorton made an important announcement on the matter, and although Martin St-Louis will not have additional physical support behind the bench, he will receive valuable assistance.
"BROSSARD - The Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations for the Montreal Canadiens, Jeff Gorton, announced on Thursday that the team had made several changes within its hockey operations.
First, Roger Grillo has been hired as a coaching consultant and will join Martin St-Louis' coaching staff.
In the scouting department, Albie O'Connell has been promoted to Head Scout for North America, and Tommy Lehman has been promoted to Head Scout for Europe. Additionally, Matt Ryan has been hired as a professional scout.
Lastly, Dale Lablans has been promoted to Head of Performance, Stéphane Gervais has been hired as the Strength and Conditioning Coach, and Mitch Freeburn will replace Stéphane Gervais in Laval as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Rocket."

Roger Grillo will serve as a coaching consultant. From what I understand, he will provide an external, big-picture perspective for the coaching staff, which could be a very beneficial addition.
More details to follow.
