Montreal Canadiens organization signs 225-pound, 6-foot-3 veteran defenseman
The Laval Rocket announced the signing of defenseman Josiah Didier for one season.
The news may seem very simple at first glance, but that hides a much deeper impact.
Didier, a 6-foot-3, 225-pound defenseman, is far from an unknown figure in the organization.
He was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in 2011.
After that, he played for the Hamilton Bulldogs, the St. John's IceCaps, the Charlotte Checkers, the Providence Bruins, and the Grand Rapids Griffins.
He has more than 500 games in the American League, with a very defensive and physical style.
This season, he has already recorded two assists in six games with the Rocket.
But I truly believe that it's not just for his numbers or his size that they're bringing him back.
"The Rocket agrees to terms on a one-year, one-way AHL contract with defenseman Josiah Didier."

As reported by RDS, coach Pascal Vincent made a point of highlighting Didier's importance in the locker room.
"Beyond what he brings on the ice, he is so valuable in the room. He has such a great attitude, it's exemplary. He is an exceptional human being."
- Pascal Vincent
His role will be particularly important with the young defensemen in the organization.
"What he does in the room will have impacts on our young players at a level that's hard to describe."
- Pascal Vincent
That's where the addition becomes important.
No need for big stats or spectacular plays to make a difference.
Sometimes, just the right presence at the right moment changes everything.
I really believe this kind of veteran helps a group stay stable and find a true identity.
