Blake Coleman's name is resurfacing strongly in the rumors surrounding the Canadiens.

According to Pierre LeBrun, the Montreal Canadiens are seriously monitoring him on the trade market. The message is clear, but it comes with a major caveat.
On the Calgary Flames' side, there is no guarantee that a trade will happen anytime soon. LeBrun also points out that Coleman has another year left on his contract, so there is no pressure forcing Calgary's hand.
The situation is also a matter of timing for Kent Hughes and the Canadiens. We are talking about a player with a $4.9 million cap hit through 2026-27, which requires Montreal to choose its moment carefully.

Pierre LeBrun reignites the Blake Coleman rumor

"Pierre LeBrun: Re Blake Coleman: There is no guarantee Calgary trades him; he's got another year on his deal; we're not even sure if Calgary's ready to move him...but if they are, I do expect Montreal to try to get in there in a real way"

- Early Trading
In 2023-2024, he scored 30 goals and 54 points in 78 games, the best season of his career.
This year, he already has 13 goals and 21 points, and he remains a name generating buzz everywhere. Add to that two Stanley Cup championships in 2020 and 2021, and it's easy to see why the phone is ringing.
LeBrun also says Calgary is receiving a lot of calls about him, without being certain they want to move him. And with the trade deadline set for March 6, this is the kind of rumor that can stay hot for a long time.
In Montreal, the idea is simple: if the Canadiens are still in the mix, an addition like this can become tempting. But everything will depend on the asking price and, above all, the Calgary Flames' true willingness to make a deal.
