Arber Xhekaj steals the spotlight at Bell Centre after ejection vs Panthers
Thursday, the Bell Centre were treated to a rather special evening.
The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Florida Panthers 6-2, and hats ended up on the ice. Alexandre Texier completed his first career hat trick, and you could feel that the crowd was just waiting for that to really let loose.
The Canadiens have now won three straight games, and it shows both on the ice and in the locker room.
Beyond the three goals, it's the overall total that stands out. Texier now has 14 points in 22 games with the Canadiens this season, and that already surpasses what he collected in 33 games with the St. Louis Blues last year. When a 26-year-old finds his timing, the Bell Centre quickly becomes a special place for him.
Arber Xhekaj sent to the locker room late, then returns for a memorable moment
Late in the game, Arber Xhekaj delivered a legal hit and a Panthers player wanted to get revenge on him.
With very little time left in the game, the referee decided to send Xhekaj to the locker room.
That said, the rugged defenseman returned to watch his teammates as they came back into the locker room. The scene was captured, and you can say it was another very nice moment between the players.
Arber Xhekaj is in the process of forcing Martin St-Louis' hand, as he has been playing excellent hockey over the last few games. It will be difficult for the coach to take him out of the lineup.
Finally, it was another excellent game that fans at the Bell Centre were able to witness, and we hope the Canadiens continue in this direction.
