Proposal for Martin Necas: Logan Mailloux would be involved
When you think that Kent Hughes might have to sacrifice a member of the Canadiens' future top 4 defense like Logan Mailloux, it sends chills down your spine.
Mailloux is destined for a bright future, but it could very well be outside of Montreal.
In fact, according to Marc-Olivier Beaudoin, if the Canadiens want to acquire Martin Necas, they will have to give up a lot.
"5th overall is a no go.
26th + Mailloux + Kapanen (and maybe a roster player with little to no value) is more acceptable."
- Marc-Olivier Beaudoin
You read that right. It's an extremely high price, but Necas is already a very good player and he will only get better. To receive, you have to pay.
Kent Hughes will have to figure out how to make it all work if he hopes to acquire Martin Necas.
He has openly said that Mailloux is not on the market, so it remains to be seen if he is able to trade another player or if he is willing to pay this price.
There's always the option of Patrik Laine, which would be much less costly.
