The Montreal Canadiens, the Maple Leafs and the Oilers are at the center of discussions right now to determine which one is the best Canadian team in the long term.

Every season, the debate about the best Canadian team comes back. However, for one of the rare times, the Canadiens are included!
Yes, a great moment for Habs fans. Let's be honest, we deserve it after all these difficult years.
And this time, it's Marc-André Perreault from TVA Sports who brought up something interesting.
He was invited to give his opinion on the question, on the airwaves of BPM Sports.
Without creating a big shock, he still slipped in a sentence that's getting a reaction.
According to him, the Canadiens may not have surpassed the Oilers yet.
But he believes the Tricolore has officially passed the Maple Leafs in this race.
Finally!!!

Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers

Here's what he said when he was asked the question.
"I'm not ready yet to say the Canadiens have passed the Oilers for the best chance at the Stanley Cup, but I think the Canadiens have passed the Maple Leafs for that."

- Marc-André Perreault

He continued by talking about the Oilers.
"I still think the Oilers will get back on track at some point; eventually someone's going to get fed up and say: we're going to go get a goalie whatever the cost may be."

- Marc-André Perreault
In my opinion, this comment hits two important points.
First, he recognizes the Canadiens' progress. It feels good to hear.
Not only do we see it on the ice... but also in how they're perceived across the NHL.
Second, he sends a clear message to Toronto.
The Leafs may have lost some ground.
The Tricolore, meanwhile, is gaining stability and identity - and that, in the long term.
It really looks like Montreal is moving forward.
Toronto, meanwhile, is still searching for the right formula.
And Edmonton, despite its talent, is still facing the same questions in goal.
Personally, I wouldn't want to switch places with anyone. The future looks bright for the Habs.

Do you think the Montreal Canadiens are now closer to the Cup than the Toronto Maple Leafs?
