Even though it's been weeks now, we still don't exactly know what happened for Corey Perry to have his contract terminated in such a manner. We've had hints about what might have occurred, but nobody knows, or those who do know prefer to keep it under wraps.

What is certain is that whatever transpired doesn't seem severe enough to keep him out of the NHL, and the Players' Association doesn't seem inclined to contest the Blackhawks' decision.

This is a significant revelation and speaks volumes about the gravity of the situation. Nevertheless, Perry feels genuinely remorseful and has apologized multiple times.

Whether the Blackhawks made a serious mistake and whether he should still be under contract will only be known if the NHLPA ultimately challenges the decision, and there's a judgment. What is certain is that his reputation wouldn't be as tarnished, and a return seems truly imminent in his case.
