Canadiens Could Strike Deal with Bruins as New Second-Line Contender Emerges
Since the start of the summer, the Montreal Canadiens have been trying to find a center for their second line, and a new option may be available for Kent Hughes.
Over the past few weeks, several players have been linked to the Canadiens for the second-line center role.
However, an active NHL player could be traded before the season begins.
Pavel Zacha Could Be an Interesting Option for the Montreal Canadiens
During a recent episode of The Sick Podcast, journalist Jimmy Murphy mentioned Pavel Zacha.
Even though he specified it was just a personal idea, this could definitely be a very interesting option for the Canadiens.
Murphy has followed the Boston Bruins for several years and makes a strong point.
James Murphy: "Trade rumors continue to surround the Boston Bruins, with
Joonas Korpisalo and Pavel Zacha's names consistently coming up"
He can play center or wing and could fill the role temporarily.
It's unclear whether the Bruins would be willing to trade him.
Boston has been difficult to follow since the last trade deadline.
The organization is not moving in the right direction, and management does not want to rebuild.
With Marchand traded, the team's window to make the playoffs is starting to close.
At 28 years old, Zacha still has two years left on his contract at $4.75M per season.
Over the past three seasons, he has recorded 57, 59, and 47 points.
If he were to join Montreal, he would certainly be an interesting asset for the Canadiens' lineup.
