According to David Pagnotta, discussions have indeed taken place between the Canucks and the Hurricanes regarding Elias Pettersson. Vancouver would have acquired Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Martin Necas, among others.

It's truly massive, confirming that if no agreement is reached between the Canucks and the Swede, he will be traded.
It's not every day that we see a player of his caliber available on the market. A transaction involving him would be simply exceptional.
