Rod Brind'Amour May Be Moving On From Former Canadiens Prospect Jesperi Kotkaniemi
Former Montreal Canadiens forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi has yet to establish himself as a top-six center in the NHL.
And now his coach Rod Brind'Amour may be ready to move on this season.
When the Hurricanes offered him a long-term contract, team management believed Kotkaniemi could develop into an offensive center for the lineup.
After four seasons with the team, the experiment has been inconclusive, and questions remain about whether the young Finnish player still has a future with the club.
That said, coach Rod Brind'Amour might throw in the towel early in the season.
The End for Jesperi Kotkaniemi with the Carolina Hurricanes?
"Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour has lost patience and seems to have officially thrown in the towel.
According to journalist Chip Alexander, who covers the team's activities on a daily basis, despite the urgent need for a second-line center in the organization, it will not be Kotkaniemi who inherits the role to start the season."

At this pace, it wouldn't be surprising to see Kotkaniemi leave the team. The Hurricanes may now regret their infamous offer.
Finally, Jesperi Kotkaniemi, a first-round, 3rd overall pick by Montreal in 2018, is still struggling to make his mark in the NHL.
With only 33 points in 78 games last season in Carolina, expectations remain high, but the organization's confidence appears to be waning.
His situation could change quickly this season.
