Training camp is approaching at full speed, and Kent Hughes is slowly starting to come out of his den.

While his comments on Ivan Demidov will surely please fans, the same can't be said about what he had to say regarding Kirby Dach and his injury.
In Demidov's case, Kent Hughes admitted that his first playoff games were difficult, but he's extremely enthusiastic about the progress he showed from game to game
"He had those ups and downs [last season], but I felt like we started to notice him figure things out throughout that five games in the playoffs in terms of how much time he had or he didn't have," general manager Kent Hughes said. "And then we've seen him through the summer. His work ethic is unparalleled. ... He's been in Montreal, skating, working out and skating again, twice a day, five days a week. I'm trying to get him off the ice."

Much Less Encouraging Words Regarding Kirby Dach

As we know, Kirby Dach missed several games again last year due to a knee injury - the same knee that caused him to miss 81 and a half games the previous season.
A few weeks ago, rumors surfaced about a possible setback in his rehabilitation, and let's just say that Kent Hughes didn't offer anything that might reassure fans.
"Our hope is that he's ready to go, either start of the season or some point early in the fall," Hughes said. "But we certainly have no intention of rushing him in any way. We need to get Kirby back when Kirby is ready to be back physically and then be very mindful and careful with his return to play." - Kent Hughes
Injuries have been an issue for Dach for most of his six seasons in the NHL. He has played more than 65 games only once and has appeared in fewer than 60 games in each of his three seasons with the Canadiens.
