Especially coming from Tim Bozon, who faced Gallagher in the WHL and crossed paths with the Habs several times before continuing a long career in Switzerland.
Tim Bozon knows both players well.
And according to him, Rohrer is not just a promising young player, he is literally cut from the same cloth as Gallagher.
I have to say, that's a statement sure to excite Montreal fans.
Tim Bozon sees Vinzenz Rohrer as a Gallagher 2.0 with the Montreal Canadiens
"He's incredible," said the meningitis survivor, who found his stride in Switzerland and has built a highly respectable career there. "I really think he's a Gallagher 2.0. And I'm not even saying that just because he was drafted by Montreal." - Tim Bozon
To add to that, he insisted that this comparison would have been the same no matter which team had selected Rohrer:
"If you had told me he was drafted by Anaheim or Boston, I would have said the same thing. He's a Gallagher." - Tim Bozon
I really think Bozon knows what he's talking about.
As mentioned in the TVA Sports article, he lost the last two Swiss league finals to Rohrer and saw with his own eyes the level of energy the young forward brings every night.
By comparing Rohrer to Gallagher, he's setting the bar very high, but I must admit I like seeing this kind of comparison-especially knowing Gallagher isn't getting any younger and that the team will eventually need to replace some of his leadership and intensity.
