Cole Caufield's contractual situation has been making a lot of headlines in recent weeks. As July 1st quickly approaches, many fans are starting to worry about the possibility of seeing a team make an offer sheet to the Canadiens.
To add to the concern, during his appearance on the "Sortie de Zone" podcast, Antoine Roussel made a very worrying statement about Cole Caufield. Indeed, the former forward questioned whether Pat Brisson was precisely waiting for an offer sheet, in order to force the Habs to pay the full price.
Maybe the advantage that Cole Caufield has in not signing quickly [with the Canadiens] is that we are waiting for a offer sheet from another team.
Let's just say it's not entirely reassuring to hear such statements!
The 22-year-old forward is undoubtedly the only player on the team capable of scoring 40 goals regularly, and the organization simply cannot afford to lose such a talented player.
However, we must not forget that Nick Suzuki, his best friend on the Canadiens, stated that there was no need to worry about the situation surrounding Cole Caufield and that a contract would be signed before the start of the season.
One thing's for sure, as long as #22 hasn't signed a new deal with the CH, many rumors will continue to circulate.
