Number 47 is proving that he belongs in the NHL, and the Canadiens will have a hard time sending him back to Laval once everyone is healthy. David Savard and Arber Xhekaj will be back by Christmas, and Kent Hughes will have decisions to make.
There's no rush; Struble can easily finish the season in Laval, but he will have left a strong impression in Montreal. According to Jean-Charles Lajoie and Tony Marinaro, there's no room for both, and Kent Hughes will have to make a choice.
For a rare time, Marinaro agrees with JiC, stating that Struble is more defensively reliable, in addition to being very solid and capable of dropping the gloves as well.
Certainly, the sample size is small, but I tend to agree with these statements. I love Xhekaj for several good reasons, but Struble's play since his arrival has been frankly impressive, and the Canadiens' defense is less at risk with him.
We'll see in the future what the general manager decides in this matter, but one thing is certain: Wifi's value is very high right now, and we couldn't blame him for considering trading him in the coming year.
