It's always enjoyable to compare draft picks several years later. You can see which players were selected too early or too late, and which teams typically make mistakes.

In 2022, the Canadiens drafted Juraj Slafkovsky, and his early career is quite modest. The organization had said it from the beginning: they picked the Slovak for the player he will become in a few years.
So, it's entirely possible that Logan Cooley might be a better player at 19, but that doesn't guarantee it will still be the case at 22-23.
Remember, during the last game between the two teams, Cooley had a good performance, and the Coyotes taunted the Canadiens after the game.
This post generated a significant reaction, and even many Canadiens fans agreed that Cooley should have been the first overall pick.
However, things have changed a lot in a month. Slaf is currently on the first line, and according to many experts, he has been the Canadiens' best forward in recent games.
It's the opposite for Cooley, who is now relegated to his team's fourth line and has only recorded two points in the last 10 games.
They are 19 years old, very young, and it's not reasonable to compare them today. We will see around 25 years old which pick would have been the better one, but until then, it's normal for them to be inconsistent.
One thing is certain: the Coyotes found themselves quite amusing with their post, but they lose a bit of face today, without the Canadiens even lifting a finger.
