A 20-year-old goaltender has had an exceptional season this year and will be a free agent at the end of the current campaign. This is the young Thomas Milic who shone with the Canadian team at the IIHF World Junior Championship.

Indeed, the goaltender was able to demonstrate to everyone that he had a very interesting potential by playing a key role in the conquest of the gold medal last January. Milic concluded the tournament with a record of 5-0-0, while maintaining an average of goals allowed of 1.76 and an impressive efficiency rate of 0.932.

The goaltender of the Seattle Thunderbirds also had an extraordinary season in the WHL, winning 27 out of 33 games he participated in. He notably maintained a goals-against average of 2.08 and an efficiency rate of 0.928.

Simply astonishing statistics!

Furthermore, Thomas Milic continues to impress since the beginning of the playoffs in the WHL. The goaltender is overwhelmingly dominant, having accumulated a record of 11-1-0 with a goals-against average of 1.65 and an efficiency rate of 0.940.

The good news is that the 20-year-old is still not owned by any NHL team and could sign a contract with any team this summer.

Although he had trials with the Minnesota Wild and the Seattle Kraken, Thomas Milic was released in both cases.

"He has already gone through two years of draft eligibility without hearing his name being selected, but he is currently playing like a goaltender who doesn't want to be overlooked by the NHL."

Even though the Canadiens have one of the best prospect pools in the Bettman circuit, the organization absolutely needs to reinforce its goaltending position. The Habs are still searching for a successor to Carey Price and Thomas Milic could represent an excellent option for this position.

Kent Hughes simply cannot pass up such an opportunity to add such a promising goaltender, and for free. The general manager himself had admitted to being very impressed by the young Milic's work at the World Junior Championship.
