Contract negotiations between the Montreal Canadiens and Cole Caufield's agent, Pat Brisson, are currently the hot topic among Canadiens fans. Although Geoff Molson has confirmed that a deal would be signed before the start of the next season, some fans are beginning to worry as the star forward is still without a contract.
Tony Marinaro therefore mentioned that if Kent Hughes is unable to sign the 22-year-old forward to a long-term contract, it would be better to trade him for a top-tier forward who already has a contract for several seasons.
The Coyotes forward has admitted on several occasions that he wants to play in a passionate hockey market, and there probably aren't any fans more intense than those of the Tricolore. Clayton Keller reached a new personal peak this season with an impressive haul of 37 goals and 49 assists in 82 games.
Personally, we would be very inclined to acquire Clayton Keller if he truly wants to leave Arizona, but we do not believe that Kent Hughes should include the Habs' top scorer in this trade.
