In recent days, we've witnessed two new hirings in the NHL, as Guy Boucher heads to Toronto to join the Maple Leafs as an assistant coach, and Kirk Muller takes on the same role for the Washington Capitals.
While this news is undoubtedly positive for both of them, it's not as favorable for another excellent coach eagerly awaiting a second opportunity in the NHL, Patrick Roy.
Although there have been numerous rumors in recent months about a potential comeback for the renowned number 33, it seems that the coaching carousel has come to a halt in the past few weeks, as there have been no updates for a while now.
It's worth mentioning that Roy may be very selective about the offers he has received. If he does make a return to the NHL, it will likely be as a head coach, rather than an assistant, at least until he reconsiders this stance.
However, his candidacy may be revisited during the early months of the regular season. If a team experiences significant disappointment, it's entirely possible that Roy's name will resurface in the league's backstage conversations.
