The Canadiens make a significant decision with Arber Xhekaj, and he is officially on vacation
While the Canadiens don't play until February 6th, the Rocket has three games in Laval this week. Many observers thought it was logical to send Xhekaj there, especially as he was scratched in the last game.
"So, Arber Xhekaj [was] scratched from the Canadiens' lineup in Pittsburgh. It wouldn't be surprising to see him return to Laval for the team's three home games next week while the main club is on break. Why not?" - Anthony Marcotte, BPM Sports
However, that's not what happened. The Canadiens decided to keep him with the team during the break. According to Eric Engels, it's an excellent decision by the organization.
"It's a week to recharge the batteries, to get some much-needed physical and mental rest and put things in proper perspective, and no one on the Montreal Canadiens might benefit more from it than Arber Xhekaj."
With a stint with the Canadiens, time in the infirmary, back with the Rocket, returning to the Canadiens, and finally being on the press box, Xhekaj will indeed be able to rest, especially between the ears.
It's starting to be a lot for such a young player. It's clear that the organization values him a lot with the decisions they make, even if it doesn't always please everyone.
