According to renowned journalist Larry Brooks, major changes could soon occur in the NHL. Indeed, the National League and the Players' Association are reportedly considering raising the salary cap ahead of the next season.
As reported by Brooks, both parties are looking into the possibility of a significant salary increase, potentially reaching $84.5 or $85 million as early as the 2023-2024 season.
However, to achieve this, the players would need to contribute more money to the escrow, which the NHLPA refuses to do. Therefore, the players would like to find other ways to increase the revenue generated by the league.
This is where it gets interesting, the NHLPA is apparently in favor of increasing the number of regular season games, from 82 to 84. This change would notably involve a reduction in the length of the training camp.
