It's coming quickly! Exactly on December 1st, it will be the deadline for Patrick Kane to reach an agreement with an NHL team; otherwise, he will have to sit out the rest of the season.
This is certainly a hot topic, as Kane will greatly benefit a team in the coming days. He is currently in negotiations with eight teams, but there are three frontrunners: the Panthers, the Sabres, and the Red Wings.
We know that Kane is a native of the Buffalo area, so that makes sense. He might want to possibly finish his career at home, or close to home in Detroit, which is only a four-hour drive away.
Regardless of where he signs, Kent Hughes could benefit. Similar to the Sean Monahan trade, which brought a solid player and a first-round pick to the Habs, one of these three teams could do the same to free up salary space and sign Kane.
Recall that the Flames practically gave Monahan to the Canadiens to sign Nazem Kadri. The Canadiens currently have nearly 5 million in cap space, making them an ideal partner for a team looking to free up cap space.
