Trade market: the value of Samuel Montembeault has just been revealed, and it's surprising

The Oilers even sent their goaltending expert scout to his last game in Columbus, which is quite telling.

These constant rumors led the BPM Sports team to assess Samuel's value on the trade market, and frankly, it's surprising for a player claimed off waivers two years ago.

Laraque: at least a first-round pick, minimum!

Pat Laprade: at least a second-round pick, but a first-round pick seems like a lot to me!

Delorme: his value is with the Canadiens; we're not trading him!

Martin Lemay: a second, not more than that.

Gonzo: I don't think he's worth a first-round pick.

Imagine if Kent Hughes trades Monty to the Oilers, and the McDavid crew doesn't make the playoffs, which is very possible given their very poor start to the season. The first or second-round pick could turn into a very good player, while Monty was acquired for nothing by the Canadiens.

Although his freshly signed three-year contract is already considered a bargain, and his value has increased because of it, I personally don't think Kent Hughes will trade him. The Canadiens did big things with Samuel, as there was even a press conference with him and the GM after his signing.
