Hockey fans in Montreal often look forward to preseason games to catch a glimpse of their favorite stars up close. Even though these games don't count in the standings, they give a preview of the season and create a great buzz at the Bell Centre.
Many were hoping to see
Sidney Crosby hit the ice in Montreal next Monday when the Penguins will be in town, but some news has changed things and caused a bit of disappointment.
The captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins will not take part in this matchup against the Canadiens.
Sidney Crosby absent from the preseason game Penguins vs. Montreal Canadiens
As reported by Renaud Lavoie, Crosby himself clarified the situation when asked earlier this month in Las Vegas.
He was very straightforward about his intentions:
"Crosby will not be in Montreal next week (Monday) for the preseason game between the Penguins and the Habs."
The 38-year-old veteran therefore has no intention of taking part in this event.
Still according to BPM Sports, Crosby reportedly said he would not be making the trip, preferring to prepare in other ways on the eve of the regular season.
It is not unusual for players of his caliber to be left out during the preseason. These games are often used to give ice time to young players and to test certain line combinations.
I think that even if Crosby is not in the lineup, this game will still allow us to watch some young Canadiens players who are eager to make their mark.
