There has been a lot of speculation about young Kirby Dach over the past few months, mostly because of his knee injury that limited him to just two games last season.
However, at the Montreal Canadiens' annual golf tournament, we finally got clear answers, and they are encouraging.
An announcement that, in my opinion, could completely change the dynamic of the Canadiens' top six.
Martin St-Louis and Jeff Gorton confirm Kirby Dach's central role
In his comments, reported by Marc-Olivier Beaudoin, Gorton wanted to reassure the fans:
"It didn't seem like a certainty but it's still reassuring."

"For now, Kirby Dach has the second-line center spot. We'll see how his knee holds up, but I'm very confident."

It's a phrase that says a lot, since it confirms the coach's confidence in Dach despite his long stint in the infirmary (or even multiple stints).
The news comes at the right time. We had already seen Dach a few days ago at practice, talking at length with David Savard, freshly retired.
Images published by Marc-Olivier Cook showed a confident player, ready to return to the ice with his teammates.
Call me crazy if you want, but I sincerely believe that if Dach comes back at 100%, he could transform the Canadiens' offense.
His size, vision, and versatility make him a unique player.
