This year, the spotlight is among other things on Kirby Dach, whose health has raised many questions over the past several months.
During interviews, Jeff Gorton made a point of reassuring the fans.

In a statement reported by Marc-Olivier Beaudoin, Gorton stated that the plan was clear: Dach will be in the lineup for the season opener.
This is good news, as the 24-year-old forward played only 2 games last season before suffering a serious knee injury.
His return is seen as essential to stabilizing the Canadiens' top-six forwards and providing real support to Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield.
Just a few days ago during previous practices, Dach had been seen in full conversation on the ice with David Savard, who has just retired.
Footage shared by Marc-Olivier Cook even showed a confident player visibly ready to get back into action.
Gorton's announcement is therefore confirmation that, if all goes well, the Canadiens will be able to count on one of their key assets from opening night.
I truly believe that for a team still in transition, the presence of a center like Dach makes all the difference.
Indeed, I think his return (if he's at 100%, of course) could completely change the face of Montreal's offense within the first few weeks.
