Filip Mesar Silences TVA Sports Journalist Anthony Martineau Following Harsh Comments
During the rookie game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Maple Leafs, it's fair to say Filip Mesar had quite an eventful night at the Bell Centre.
Mesar was hit with criticism from Anthony Martineau and had a sincere message addressed to the fans.
During Sunday night's game, journalist Anthony Martineau did not mince words in criticizing a poorly executed play by the young Slovak.
"Filip Mesar has an excellent opportunity to shoot. He is at the top of the circles.

These comments quickly spread across social media, with many fans seeing it as a harsh critique of the Habs prospect.
To be honest, I understand the frustration. Mesar has been very disappointing since being selected in the first round a few years ago.

However, just a few minutes later, Mesar silenced his critics by scoring a goal, his very first at the Bell Centre.
After the game, he made a point of addressing Canadiens fans directly.
"It was the first goal I scored at the Bell Centre. Honestly, it was incredible. I want to tell the fans that I know I still have a lot to prove, but I have confidence in myself, and I know that if I can stay healthy, I will show that the Canadiens were right to believe in me."
It was a nice statement, showing that he is well aware of the road ahead.
And, in a funny twist, you could even say that Martineau may have chosen his words a little too quickly on air.. before seeing Mesar score just moments later.
In my opinion, this kind of contrast is part of the beauty of hockey: a mistake makes everyone furious, but a goal can erase everything very quickly.
However, as we previously mentioned, following the game vs. Maple Leafs the Canadiens officially cut eight players from camp.
