A glimmer of hope for the Canadiens despite tough night vs. the Kings
The game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Los Angeles Kings turned into a nightmare for Martin St. Louis, but one performance in particular stood out.
Before last night's game, everyone knew the Kings were a tough team to face, and once again, they proved why...
The Habs lost to them for the ninth consecutive time. In fact, the Canadiens were unable to play a full 60-minute game.
But in defeat, one player stood out above all others:
Josh AndersonJosh Anderson delivered his best game of the season
He scored a spectacular goal with a blistering shot and created several strong shifts.
"It's a shame it came in a losing effort, because Anderson was a standout for Montreal all night. He scored on an absolute rocket and looked like he had some extra jump in his step."
- Mitch Gallo
It's true. Anderson played with energy, hit hard, and showed why his strength and speed can really disrupt opponents.
Even
Kevin Fiala took a solid hit that got the entire Canadiens bench fired up.
I think that if Anderson maintains this level of intensity every night, he'll quickly become an important player again for Martin St. Louis.
The Canadiens' coach didn't want to blame anyone after the game.
He simply spoke about the need to play a full game and avoid the stretches where the team loses focus.
Even in a loss, a strong individual performance can wake up an entire group.
And as Gallo said, we need to stop always pointing fingers at the goalie.
I get the feeling St. Louis is looking beyond just the result.
