Indeed, the Canadiens' coach is turning young players into veterans who excel in the game, which works to his advantage. He is undoubtedly the ideal candidate for the young Habs.
The problem is that he lacks experience and still has a ways to go before being considered one of the good head coaches in the league.
The proof came recently when 32 NHL players responded to a survey conducted by Michael Russo of The Athletic, asking which coach, aside from their own, they would like to play for.
The names of Jon Cooper and Paul Maurice were the most popular, but not a single player voted for Martin St-Louis.
It's strange, yet completely logical. We're talking about two head coaches who have won the Stanley Cup, each with over 1,000 games of experience in the NHL and significant recognition.
For Martin St-Louis, this is a slap in the face, but his time will come; I'm not worried. I'm just disappointed to see that his name didn't come up even once.
