In 2023, Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens' management selected David Reinbacher with the 5th overall pick in the NHL Draft. The 20-year-old Austrian, who played with Laval in the AHL during the 2024-25 season, just made a very special gesture toward one of his former teammates from the Rocket.

Unfortunately for David Reinbacher, he has at times been the target of harsh criticism since joining the Canadiens organization.
Why? Many fans are still upset that management chose him instead of selecting Russian forward Matvei Michkov.
Patience is always key with young defensemen, who often take several years to develop. Additionally, Reinbacher also dealt with injuries that delayed his progress.
Last year, the native of Hohenems played only 10 games with the Laval Rocket and appeared in 13 more during the playoffs.
Standing 6'3" and weighing 207 lbs, he's a big defenseman with tremendous potential and, barring any surprises, a full AHL season would be very beneficial for his development.
David Reinbacher is expected to be an important piece of the Montreal Canadiens' blue line for many years, alongside other young talents like Lane Hutson, Kaiden Guhle, and Noah Dobson.

At 20, David Reinbacher Just Made a Remarkable Gesture Toward Former Teammate Brandon Gignac

As first reported by our friends at DansLesCoulisses, David Reinbacher made a truly kind gesture toward Brandon Gignac, his former Rocket teammate.
Gignac recently signed a contract in Switzerland after spending eight seasons in the AHL. He reached an agreement with EHC Kloten-the same team Reinbacher played for from 2022 to 2024.
Reinbacher decided to bring Brandon Gignac along to show him around the team's facilities, and the organization shared the following video:
What a great gesture! There's no doubt David Reinbacher will be highly appreciated in the Montreal Canadiens' locker room-this young man is well-mannered and has a good head on his shoulders.
