David Reinbacher's Classy Gesture Toward Former Laval Teammate Speaks Volumes About His Character

In 2023, Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens' management selected David Reinbacher with the 5th overall pick in the NHL Draft. The 20-year-old Austrian, who played with Laval in the AHL during the 2024-25 season, just made a very special gesture toward one of his former teammates from the Rocket.
Why? Many fans are still upset that management chose him instead of selecting Russian forward
Matvei Michkov.
Last year, the native of Hohenems played only 10 games with the Laval Rocket and appeared in 13 more during the playoffs.
Standing 6'3" and weighing 207 lbs, he's a big defenseman with tremendous potential and, barring any surprises, a full AHL season would be very beneficial for his development.
David Reinbacher is expected to be an important piece of the Montreal Canadiens' blue line for many years, alongside other young talents like
Lane Hutson,
Kaiden Guhle, and
Noah Dobson.
