Forget about a trade like the one for Kirby Dach, Kent Hughes is aiming much higher according to former player agent David Ettedgui.
There's a lot of talk about the next move by the Canadiens' GM, who openly admits he will try to make a big acquisition.
We tend to believe it will be a young player in development, but that might not be the case.
"I am 100% convinced they will make a big trade. I hear people talking about making a trade like the Dach one... Forget it! This summer, if they can, and they will do everything, it will be an established and proven NHL Top-6 player around the age of 24-25 and no older than 26.
It will not be a project. It will be a real Top-6."
- David Ettedgui
Names like Trevor Zegras, Martin Necas, or even Patrik Laine, who has just been added to the rumors, come to mind. But if we follow this prediction, we can forget about players like Marco Rossi, who is still in development, or Nikolaj Ehlers, who is too old.
Ettedgui also thinks that defenseman Adam Engstrom, who just signed his entry-level contract in recent weeks, could be part of the players traded.
If that is the case, Kent Hughes will certainly need to add more pieces, but this is starting to get interesting! Let's hope Ettedgui is right!
