Young forward Jared Davidson joins the Montreal Canadiens lineup after a long journey through the WHL, and he brings something new.
The path has been very difficult for Jared Davidson. He wasn't selected in the WHL draft. He was passed over twice in the NHL draft.
It's such an inspiring story of perseverance!
Jared Davidson Impresses Martin St-Louis with His Net-Front Energy
"He brings sandpaper. Very engaged. He's dangerous around the net. What I've seen so far, I like it." - Martin St-Louis
Davidson doesn't hide that it still gives him chills. His first game at the Bell Centre remains a standout moment.
He admits he lost his composure a little.
"I didn't even know what I was thinking. You hear the fans, you know it's the moment," Davidson said
He also remembers a simple thought as he stepped onto the ice without a helmet.
"I was just telling myself not to fall," - he said laughing.
He's not someone who had it easy. As a teenager, he broke his shoulder by crashing into a tree on his bike. He missed an entire season and was never drafted at the junior level.
"I never gave up on my dream of playing here," he explained proudly.
He savors every moment now. Every meal, every minute in the locker room, every small victory.
He keeps it simple. He shoots when he has the puck. He drives to the net.
And I think he truly deserves his chance.
