On a night when the Montreal Canadiens were hosting the Boston Bruins at the Bell Centre, it was truly the story of Jared Davidson that captured all the attention.

And now that we're the day after his first game, I think we realize even more just how special that moment was to be called up.
Jared Davidson was taking his very first steps in the NHL. Honestly, I'm so happy for him.
He worked so hard and delivered a very solid performance against the Bruins. You could see in his first shifts that he didn't want to let his opportunity slip away.
What makes all of this even more touching is his journey.
Davidson was passed over three times in the draft, even in the WHL.
Just that alone is incredible.
When you know everything he went through, you can't help but want him to succeed.
The Canadiens had confirmed earlier in the day that he would be in the lineup, and his reaction had already shown how much that moment meant to him. And during the pregame media, he explained it even better.

Jared Davidson surprises Montreal Canadiens fans

He summed up his path with simple words:
"I had a pretty good year last year and, um, just kind of building off of my pro years and trying to get better every, every chance I can, and that's kind of, I think, what's led to success down in Laval, and, um, you know, I was lucky enough to get the call, and I've been pretty happy.

I think scoring down there a whole bunch helps, um, but I think just the physical play, um, just being able to bring a little bit of energy and, um, you know, bring other parts of the game, you know, defensively, offensively, kind of whatever needs to be done. I think that's kind of what I'm willing to do, and, um, I think that's why I'm here."

Then, he added another sentence that struck me:
"I think my whole life has just been a lot of work, and trying to prove people wrong, and just show that I can do what I need to do, and I think getting called up has just proved that to me." - Davidson

He also mentioned his family and the sacrifices they've made for him.
"Like, my family, they sacrificed, you know, way too much probably. And I can't thank them enough. You know, they flew out here, they had a day to get out here. So, I mean, they dropped everything they have. They're taking their Saturday at home and then they're coming here to watch me play. And, you know, it means a lot, you know, just, being here around the guys for the first time. It's pretty special. And, yeah, like I said before, when I got that call, I didn't sleep much. I was pretty excited."

That kind of attitude pushes a career forward.
And it helps a team too, especially when the Habs are trying to regain a bit of consistency.
For a first NHL game, Davidson did exactly what we were hoping for.
He kept it simple, worked hard, and never seemed intimidated by the moment.
Honestly, I think fans will quickly get attached to him.
A guy who never gave up, even when everything was against him, speaks to everyone.
