As the Canadiens struggle through a tough stretch and one of the league's weakest power plays, Martin St-Louis has made a surprising lineup decision.

Let's be honest, the Canadiens are simply looking for something to get going again.
"The Montreal Canadiens lost 3-2 to the Boston Bruins. The power play went 0-7

Thoughts Habs fans?"

- Tony Marinaro
The power play isn't working at all anymore, and some changes are shaking things up within the group.

Ivan Demidov faces an important change decided by Martin St-Louis

This morning, many were surprised to see Zachary Bolduc return to the first power-play unit.
Meanwhile, it was Ivan Demidov who found himself on the second unit, which is surprising when you think about what he has shown recently.
A big change!
Stu Cowan summed up the session by saying:
"Two power-play units at practice

Hutson
Suzuki - Bolduc - Slafkovsky
Caufield

Dobson
Suzuki - Kapanen - Demidov
Gallagher"
This decision comes while the Habs are experiencing very difficult games, and the team is still looking for a way to fix its five-on-three play, which hasn't worked for a long time.
"Martin St-Louis is trying to find solutions on the power play.

Reminder: the team is 0 for 17 in its last 5 games.

1st unit: Suzuki, Caufield, Slafkovsky (on the right), Bolduc (in front of the net) and Hutson.

2nd unit: Demidov, Kapanen, Gallagher, Dobson and a rotating player (often Suzuki). Will Roy be on the 2nd unit tomorrow?

Yes, yes... Demidov has been moved back to the 2nd unit (which is very weak offensively, with the absence of Laine, Dach and Newhook).

Evans, Anderson, Veleno and Davidson are the forwards used shorthanded, with Carrier, Xhekaj and Matheson.

PS Not many goals are being scored here either..."

- Maxime Truman
Honestly, I like seeing how a young player like Demidov reacts on a day like this, because it often reveals the true character of a player. I have no doubt he'll handle it well regardless.
We also know that Martin St-Louis likes to try things to spark his offense, and this change could be the start of a new idea.
And I think tomorrow's game against the Blue Jackets will say a lot about where this team is headed.
