Juraj Slafkovsky broke out this season, finding his footing in the NHL just before Christmas.

The first overall pick in 2022 was sensational afterward, almost scoring at a point-per-game pace.

He finished the season with 20 goals and 50 points, which is excellent for a 19-year-old (he turned 20 on March 30). He really broke through and exceeded expectations.

At the beginning of last season, there were questions about whether Slafkovsky belonged in the NHL. Now, people are wondering if he can be dislodged from the first line. It's a complete 180-degree turn.

Juraj Slafkovsky traded? A proposal from Georges Laraque that has aged poorly
In February 2023, Georges Laraque, who often proposes good trades and reveals good scoops, made a rare mistake.

When you have the courage to give your opinion and propose trades, this can happen. We don't blame Georges for that.

"Juraj Slafkovsky is a project, but in my opinion, he will never be a Top-6 player. I would use him in a package to acquire Pierre-Luc Dubois, who would become the first French-Canadian star in Montreal since José Théodore."

Dubois accumulated 40 points this year and was criticized by almost everyone in Los Angeles before being traded to the Capitals in the last few hours.

Let's just say the Canadiens are currently in a much better position with Slafkovsky than with Dubois, especially since Slafkovsky's next contract should be less burdensome than the $8.5 million paid to Dubois until 2031.
