In recent years, many teams have made huge mistakes by giving out overpriced contracts and making questionable trades, but Kent Hughes managed to avoid the worst.

When you think about July 1st in the NHL, many bad signings come to mind.
Milan Lucic, Christian Ehrhoff, Karl Alzner, David Clarkson, and Nathan Horton are all names that failed to deliver after signing big contracts.
Players expect to receive big deals, and some general managers are always ready to offer the money players demand.
Kent Hughes had several opportunities this year, as a few players were free agents.
However, the Canadiens' general manager surprised many fans.

Montreal Canadiens Among Best Teams of the Summer

Looking at the teams' moves this summer, many made mistakes that could negatively impact their squads.
For the Montreal Canadiens, the team didn't misstep and even managed to improve significantly.

The addition of Noah Dobson, signing Joe Veleno, and trading for Zachary Bolduc are all wins for the Canadiens' management.
You could say it's mission accomplished for Kent Hughes, though the team still needs to find a second-line center.
We prefer that Hughes not rush things.
He did very well not to overpay a player and to pay the right price over several years.
Finally, we can't wait to see the Montreal Canadiens in action - and that's coming very soon.
