Lane Hutson Faces Tough Blow Ahead of Crucial 2025-26 Season

Unfortunately for him, he is now facing some very bad news that is likely to strongly impact Montreal Canadiens fans.

After an incredible rookie season with the Canadiens, Lane Hutson is preparing to impress again in the coming months.

The defenseman will also see the excellent Noah Dobson make his mark in Montreal after being acquired from the New York Islanders by Kent Hughes last June in exchange for Emil Heineman and two first-round picks.

Dobson is expected to play alongside Kaiden Guhle according to projections by Daily Faceoff, while Hutson would be paired with Jayden Struble. Mike Matheson and Alexandre Carrier would form the third pair. Arber Xhekaj is listed as the team's seventh defenseman.

The future has not been this exciting for a long time with the Montreal Canadiens. On the blue line, don't quickly dismiss the names of Adam Engstrom and David Reinbacher, who could force management to keep them with the big club in the near future.

Unfortunately for Lane Hutson, all signs indicate he may already have to forget about participating in the upcoming Olympics, as the U.S. team seems to be turning its back on him.

With the presence of Zach Werenski and Quinn Hughes, management has apparently decided not to select Lane Hutson. This is certainly a tough decision for the player himself, who surely would have wanted to represent his country.

Hopefully he will have a chance to bounce back and make the National team in 2030!
