Major acquisition of a top goaltender by Kent Hughes: Cayden Primeau could be the sacrifice

Since the beginning of the summer, several rumors have placed Kent Hughes as one of the favorites to acquire young goalie Yaroslav Askarov, with Cayden Primeau being the likely sacrifice.

This is what Eric Fichaud believes, who was present at the Canadiens' golf tournament. In fact, he thinks that Kent Hughes should sacrifice Primeau to make room for an older veteran to back up Samuel Montembeault.

Personally, I believe that Kent Hughes will look to acquire a better goalie, regardless of age. Cayden Primeau was solid at times last year, and his current value should be leveraged for a trade.

However, I would also be comfortable with maintaining the status quo for the moment. The Montreal Canadiens are well-positioned with their current goalies while Jacob Fowler develops.

Based on the rumors that Kent Hughes is looking for a new goalie, I agree with Eric Fichaud that Cayden Primeau should be traded.
