Montreal Canadiens: already a ridiculous penalty for Lane Hutson

Lane Hutson has just entered the NHL, having played his first career game on Monday night. For the occasion, he is already facing a penalty from the NHL.

Indeed, a completely ridiculous rule set by Gary Bettman requires players new to the NHL to wear a helmet during the warm-up period.

However, for a rookie playing his first game, this is a very special moment, and all veterans agree that they should have the right to go without a helmet during this brief moment.

The NHL thinks differently, as a $2,500 fine will be issued to Hutson. Welcome to the league, Bettman says to the young player!

Many other rookies have gone through this, and it's likely that veterans offer to pay the fees.

Hutson performed well during his first game, with an assist in his second shift. He showed his skills in a very impressive manner, and he could have earned more points if the plays he created had been converted.
