Renaud Lavoie has just made a prediction that is causing a lot of buzz in Montreal.
To date, the Canadiens hold a record of 23-13-6, for 52 points, and sit in 2nd place in the Atlantic Division.
Last Sunday, the Habs notably defeated the Dallas Stars 4-3 in overtime.
Thursday night they defeated the Panthers with a punishing victory.
Renaud Lavoie makes a bold prediction
On the airwaves of BPM Sports, Renaud Lavoie went out on a limb by stating that he sees the Habs winning two Stanley Cups within 10 years. He even hinted at three, specifying that it was for fun and that nothing is guaranteed.
Within 10 years, I think the Habs can easily win two Stanley Cups. And I even feel like saying three! - Renaud Lavoie
What also fuels the dream is the reality of the contracts. Suzuki is signed for eight years and $63 million, at $7.875 million per year.
Caufield is at $7.85 million per year over eight years, for $62.8 million. Slafkovský has just entered his eight-year, $60.8 million contract, at $7.6 million per year.
And Hutson is earning $950,000 this season, before a big eight-year contract at $8.85 million per year, starting in 2026-2027.
It should also be recalled that the Canadiens already got a taste of the playoffs in spring 2025, against the Washington Capitals. On April 26, 2025, Montreal won a game 6-3, with goals from Suzuki and Slafkovský, among others.
The credit then goes to Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes, because management has put several important pieces in place at the right price.
If the progression continues, fans will dream, and they won't hold back. Let's put it this way: when it clicks in Montreal, it really clicks.
