The New Jersey Devils defy the rules against the Canadiens, and Jake Allen will pay the price

In preseason games, it's quite normal to see a weaker lineup and young players, but there are still rules to follow.
Tonight, as the Canadiens host the Devils, the visitors are pushing the limits of one of these rules, which stipulates that at least eight veterans must be dressed for the game.
This rule is meant to ensure a minimum level of competition and respect for the fans, who often pay a hefty price, even for preseason games.
Well, the Devils are flirting with this rule by fielding a very weak lineup. It's safe to say that the one who will pay the price is likely former Canadiens goaltender
Jake Allen, who should see plenty of action.
"Here's your #NJDevils lineup from AM skate in Jersey before heading to Montreal only a couple NHL-regulars are in tonight.
Devils play again tomorrow, so no need to make some of the big names travel."
- Amanda Stein, New Jersey reporter
It seems like the legality of this lineup is hanging by a thread. The Devils haven't brought many regular-season players.
