For Canadiens fans, the game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers turned into a nightmare late in the third period.

While the Habs were comfortably leading 5-3, a series of highly questionable penalties completely changed the course of the game.
Josh Anderson, in particular, received a penalty that allowed the Oilers to tie it up.
And after the game, veteran Brendan Gallagher didn't hold back his words.

Brendan Gallagher calls out the referees after the Canadiens-Oilers game

When questioned by journalist Eric Engels, Gallagher revealed that the referees admitted they made a mistake on the penalty called against Juraj Slafkovsky early in the period.
"I'm going to be honest with you, started with Slaf's penalty. Talked to him after that one, they admitted it wasn't a penalty, made a mistake. It's an emotional game, temperatures are hot. Understand that, control the game. Understand you made a mistake, we're shorthanded again, give a guy a second, no need to call that." - Brendan Gallagher
In my opinion, the Habs lost control of the game after those controversial decisions.
"Habs furious with officiating tonight.

Brendan Gallagher said the officials admitted they made a mistake on the call on Slafkovsky and he felt the call on Anderson was because the official felt Anderson showed him up.

"He didn't," Gallagher said."

But Gallagher didn't want to put all the blame on the officials.
"I thought our guys played a really good game. We were checking their top players, we were doing what we needed to do, we responded really well. And yeah, could we have handled our emotions better? Of course. We'll talk about that. But situations in the game, you know, obviously they've got some high-end talent, they don't need the help." - Gallagher
What I like about Gally after the game is that, even without raising his voice, the Canadiens veteran clearly hinted that the Oilers got a little extra help from the referees.
According to TVA Sports, the National Hockey League has yet to comment on the situation, but in Montreal, the frustration is very real.
Martin St-Louis and Caufield also commented on the situation... and let's just say, they weren't too pleased.
I think Gallagher said out loud what many players and observers were quietly thinking.
And honestly, when a veteran like him speaks with that much honesty, it deserves to be heard.
