Kirby Dach is gradually regaining his confidence with the Montreal Canadiens, even though a late-game penalty drew reactions.

Now several details in his play deserve to be highlighted without jumping to conclusions.
Sometimes, a gesture that seems negative actually tells a very positive story.
That's exactly what happened with Kirby Dach last night.
He took a goaltender interference penalty.
But instead of calling it a mistake, many observers saw it as an encouraging sign.
Because what matters is the intention behind the play.

Kirby Dach Montreal Canadiens Confidence

Stu Cowan summed it up simply after the game:
"Kirby Dach taking a goalie interference penalty isn't the worst thing in the world. He has to go hard to the net to be successful."

- Stu Cowan
In other words, Dach was exactly where he needs to be.
In front of the net.
In the high-danger area.
Where important goals are scored, where games can turn.
It's not a comfortable area.
It takes courage to go there.
Mitch Gallo even pointed out that Dach now has goals in back-to-back games, and his confidence is steadily returning.
"Back-to-back games with goals - and confidence goes a long way. When Dach is rolling, you see his willingness to hang onto the puck to make plays, his drive to get to the front of the net, and his ability to distribute. Yes, his goal tonight was a bit of a fluke, but at the end of the year, no one's asking how they were scored. Dach is now on pace for over 20 goals, which would be considered a huge success.

He also made a great pass to Bolduc that could have led to one of Montreal's better chances if the puck hadn't jumped on Bolduc at the last second. It's probably not a coincidence that Dach's improved play has come since the line changes and his move back to centre."
Marco D'Amico also mentioned it: you can see a player finding his rhythm again, carrying the puck, and creating chances.
Personally, I think this kind of penalty is preferable to a player who takes no risks or initiative.
Because a passive Dach helps no one - but a Dach who attacks the net certainly does.
