As you know, three teams are currently at a disadvantage because they have one or more players accused in the Team Canada Junior scandal.
The Philadelphia Flyers are without their number one goalie, while the Flames and the Devils have one and two players less, respectively.
What's even worse is that these teams are stuck with the salary cap impact of these players even though they are facing charges and cannot currently be in the lineup.
The League Commissioner has decided to give them a little help, as they will be granted relief from their salary cap.
"The Philadelphia Flyers, New Jersey Devils and Calgary Flames have been informed they will receive cap relief for the players on Leave charged in the 2018 World Junior criminal proceedings." - Darren Dreger
This is obviously a huge development a month before the trade deadline. These teams will be able to compensate for their losses as they are all in a playoff race.
It's not universally popular among fans, who believe that this gift is unwarranted. For the Canadiens, it could be a blessing. The Flyers will undoubtedly be looking for a goalie. Cayden Primeau or Jake Allen could greatly help them.
