The Montreal Canadiens are set to wrap up their long Western road trip tonight against the Seattle Kraken, and all signs point to Martin St-Louis once again betting on experience.
Indeed, according to Bruno Gervais of RDS, he believes the starting goaltender should be Monty.
"I'm leaning toward bringing Montembeault back tomorrow against Seattle."
- Bruno Gervais
This statement, shared by L'Antichambre, suggests that the Quebec native could likely be tasked with finishing the trip on a positive note.
I believe the context here is far from trivial.
"Sam is a good goalie. He proved it with everything he did last year. Without Sam, we're not there last year. When I was a player, I had starts like that and when I had those starts, it's not like I forgot how to play hockey. Sam will be a big part of our success this year. I'm not worried"
- Martin St-Louis
With a 2-3-0 record, a 3.82 goals-against average, and a .842 save percentage, the Quebec goaltender knows he needs to bounce back - and quickly!
Still, Gervais seems to believe that a rotation is essential. I completely agree with that.
Dobes needs to stay confident, and Montembeault deserves the chance to prove he can once again be the backbone he was last year.
The matchup is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. Eastern Time at the Kraken's arena.
Fans will be keeping their eyes on the net to see if Bruno Gervais was right.
